Brides! 7 Beauty Tips to Prepare for Your Big Day

Your wedding is one of the biggest days of your life, so it’s natural to feel extra pressure to look your best. I often talk to brides-to-be who are concerned about how they want to look for their big day. What I always tell them is that the sooner you start preparing, the greater your options. But regardless of timing, there are ways to help you look and feel your best when you walk down the aisle.

Long Term: 1 year before your wedding

For a lot of brides, fitting into the perfect dress is their greatest concern. After all, you’re going to stand in front of your loved ones and be photographed all day — you want to look great and feel confident.

But the parts of your body that you aren’t crazy about are likely things you’ve been trying to overcome for a while. And that means that a few extra trips to the gym won’t always do the trick. That’s when I recommend that patients consider Coolsculpting, a non-invasive treatment option designed to slim and streamline problem areas, like pesky bra bulge, so that you feel confident in the perfect strapless dress.

If the contouring you’re seeking is face-specific, on the other hand, I’ll recommend a treatment designed to target this region:

  • Belkyra can help to slim your profile, if you’re worried about your double chin taking centre stage in photos.
  • Sculptra is a great choice for women who feel they need a general lift and rejuvenation — especially if it’s a later in life wedding, Sculptra can offer natural, yet noticeable revitalization to your appearance.

Short Term: 6 months before your wedding

As the big day approaches, it’s natural to start noticing details that have never even been on your radar before. All of the sudden you find yourself scrutinizing pigment imbalances or fine lines that you never noticed before. The good news is, you still have time to address these concerns.

About six months out, I recommend complexion-focused treatments to remedy some of these more surface-level details.

  • Micro-needling is an extremely effective way to quickly boost collagen production and overall skin appearance. But the process requires your skin to heal itself, so you don’t want to leave this one too last minute.
  • Intense Pulsed Light (or IPL) can help you even out your skin tone, so your face is picture perfect and you don’t spend your day touching up your makeup.
  • Clear + Brilliant is a great option when you’re seeking a generally brighter, more even complexion — and who wouldn’t want that on their wedding day?

Immediate: 2 months before your wedding

Sometimes your appearance and the health of your skin takes a backseat to wedding planning. If that’s the case, you might find your big day is suddenly creeping up on you, without much time left to make lasting changes. But it doesn’t mean that you’re out of options.

When patients are down to the wire and come to me looking for a solution, I often recommend neuromodulators. Injectables like Botox can soften frown lines and wrinkles, helping ensure that you look refreshed, rejuvenated and happy on the big day. With two months to spare, we still have an opportunity to make sure results are soft and natural, with time for small adjustments if needed.

Wedding planning can impose a lot of stress and pressure — the last thing you need is to feel that your own appearance is out of your control. Luckily, it doesn’t need to be. Regardless of how far away your big day might be, there are effective treatments that can help to ensure your day is memorable for all the right reasons.
