Dr. Beleznay Reviews Popular Complexion Treatments

A healthy complexion is a cornerstone of beauty. The goal is never picture-perfect skin free of all pores, blemishes, and wrinkles, but rather a natural, refreshed, youthful appearance that allows you to feel confident and inspired. At Humphrey Cosmetic Dermatology, we build highly individualized rejuvenation strategies to help achieve this goal.
Whether you’re looking to take small preventative measures, reinvigorate your appearance, or address specific concerns, we’ll work together to build a 360° treatment plan that works. When a refreshed, healthy complexion is the goal, we often recommend the following treatments.
IPL
IPL—or Intense Pulsed Light—is ideal for patients hoping to improve skin discolouration, address brown spots, or reduce background redness. I love this treatment for patients with underlying Rosacea because it can effectively address symptoms such as redness, flushing and blushing. Because IPL stimulates collagen and addresses photoaging, it can also be a really wonderful preventative treatment.
Clear + Brilliant®
Clear + Brilliant® is a non-ablative, fractionated laser treatment that effectively addresses overall skin health and appearance. It improves skin tone and texture, and helps reduce the appearance of fine lines and pores. It’s also effective for the treatment of melasma, and the resulting patchy pigmentation. Patients love this treatment because there’s little to no downtime, which means they can return to their daily activities quickly. I love it because it’s safe and effective for most skin types, and tones, including darker skin phototypes.
We often combine Clear + Brilliant® and IPL because the two work synergistically.
Microneedling
Microneedling is a mechanical treatment that uses tiny needles to help stimulate collagen. This treatment is great for addressing skin texture, fine lines, and discolouration (including melasma). It’s one of my personal favourite treatments for acne scarring. Like Clear + Brilliant®, microneedling is safe and effective for most skin types and tones.
With each of these complexion treatments, you may see results after just one treatment, but we normally recommend a series of three or more, about four weeks apart, followed by yearly maintenance treatments. Some patients may require more treatments, especially when targeting a specific concern such as acne scarring, but our team will assist you in determining the ideal number of treatments. We always recommend these treatments in conjunction with evidence-based skincare for best results.
If you’re looking to stimulate collagen, help even discolouration, improve skin tone and texture, or give your complexion a healthy glow, ask us how these treatments may fit into your 360° plan.
