Susie Wall’s EMFACE® Experience

Humphrey & Beleznay Cosmetic Dermatology is proud to be one of the first Canadian practices to offer EMFACE®, a treatment to lift the face and brow.

EMFACE® uses High-Intensity Facial Electrical Stimulation (HIFES) in combination with synchronized radiofrequency (RF) to reinforce the facial muscle structures and improve skin texture and laxity. The result is a lifted face and brow, and a notable improvement in wrinkles and fine lines.

Susie Wall—TV style expert, mom, stylist, collab designer, and longtime patient—became interested in trying EMFACE® after seeing a friend’s amazing before & after photos. Coupled with her own research, and conversations with Dr. Humphrey, it became clear that this treatment was a fit for her 360° treatment plan. 

Today, Susie has so graciously agreed to share her EMFACE® treatment experience with us. 

1. How would you describe your current skin and aging goals?

My skin and aging goals are always in motion. Just like everything in this life, our needs and wants morph based on our environment, thought processes, schedules, relationships, stress levels, all of it. My current focus is packing for Mexico and then Scottsdale so along with finding a foldable fedora, I have sun protection on the brain *laughs*. It’s like I have this miniature Dr. Humphrey with me when I travel, sitting on my shoulder while I lounge by the pool or paddling out to surf with me – she’s my SPF and skincare conscience! 

2. What motivated you to try EMFACE® for the first time?

Seeing the results that one of my girlfriends had experienced in California was what first really got my attention. She sent me her personal before and after photos, and knowing her face as well as I do, I knew I wanted to learn more. Right around that same time, Humphrey & Beleznay Cosmetic Dermatology began offering EMFACE®. The office is always up to the minute with what’s happening globally in cosmetic dermatology, but what I respect so much is that they pay attention to science and research-backed results over what may or may not be trending. A few times I’ve asked Dr. Humphrey about different treatments and she’ll shake her head and say, “No. Not for you, and here’s why.”

3. Tell us about your treatment experience! 

In the first few minutes of the first session, I was a bit nervous because of the buzzing and light heat sensation. Everyone’s experience will be slightly different, but it was interesting how quickly my brain regulated and adapted. I also loved how quick each session was, and that I didn’t need numbing cream. My advice would be: take off all of your jewelry at home! Between 8 earrings and all my rings and necklaces I walked in like Mr. T, so disrobing my jewelry wardrobe took a minute.

4. What was recovery like?

There was no recovery. I was actually on camera a couple of hours after my last session. My face was the tiniest bit red, but you can apply makeup immediately afterwards. Zero hassle.

5. How do you feel since your treatment? What results have you noticed?

I feel awesome. I’ve already started to notice improvement and lift in those jowl-ey areas of my face, which was my main motivator for getting EMFACE®. 

6. Will EMFACE® be a permanent part of your treatment plan moving forward?

One hundred percent.

7. Would you recommend this treatment to friends?

I already have! I couldn’t believe how many DMs from friends as well as people I didn’t know who were curious about EMFACE®. I was so impressed with the knowledge and expertise of the team when I had my treatments, and as usual I felt like I was in the best hands. EMFACE® for the win!
