Skin Story: Michelle Addison

Michelle Addison Skin Story

Michelle Addison is a fashion stylist, actress, brand consultant, on-air style expert, and long-time HCD patient. Since first visiting the clinic over 5 years ago, her goals as they pertain to skin health and wellness have evolved along with her confidence. Recently, she was gracious enough to take some time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions about her personalized 360° treatment plan.

How have your skin and aging goals changed over the years?

My skin goals have changed from just trying to cure my acne and help with the onset of increasing wrinkles to a more thorough approach to skin maintenance and skin wellness. I am more concerned with my overall skin health and less interested in a “quick fix”, which is why Dr. Humphrey’s 360° approach is so appreciated. I feel that my skin looks better than it did in my thirties!

What do you enjoy the most of your routine?

I think my favourite part is waking up in the morning with clear and glowing skin. I used to wake up and brace myself for what my skin would look like; whether it was acne, tired eyes, puffy skin or dryness. Now my skin looks great 98% of the time. I wake up and use my face wash, vitamin C serum and moisturizer, and then apply a bit of makeup for work and feel great. I have eradicated complexity and anxiety in my skincare with Dr. Humphrey’s help.

How did you approach adding skin tightening to your personalized treatment plan?

I think skin tightening was a natural step for me, as I started to notice loose skin around my eyes. I am on camera alot for my Zoom wardrobe consults and when I am acting in film and television roles, and basically using my eyes ALL the time to express myself. I wanted to see if there was anything I could do to fight the loose skin. The treatments that Dr. Humphrey suggested (Thermage Face and Eyes) are very subtle and were exactly what I wanted to give me a lift without a massive change in how I express myself.

What advice do you give friends when they’re starting to consider cosmetic treatment?

I always feel like the best thing is to just do you. If you want to use the many advancements that skincare has made in the last decade, then do! I think it used to be so scary to think about using Botox or going to a Cosmetic Dermatologist, but that simply isn’t the norm anymore. Dr. Humphrey doesn’t want you to look like some other version of yourself, that is why I recommend her. She is an expert in her field, with massive training and skill, and it’s easy to recommend someone who is the best at what they do!

I always advise finding an expert that you trust before making a decision about your face. I have learned that it is great to have a long term relationship with someone who knows you and your preferences. Skin wellness is a long term plan and your treatments should be too!

If you could go back and take on your skincare earlier, what would you do differently?

I spent so many years suffering with my acne and then wrinkles came and I suffered more. I spent so much time covering up with makeup and making things worse. I even wore makeup at the gym! If I could go back, I would have reached out and made my skin health a priority in my late twenties and benefited from a makeup free face when I had all that youth!

We waste so much time thinking about our imperfections when there are solutions available to us, I wish that I believed that I was worth the investment a bit earlier. We all deserve to have the best skin possible!
